FOOD INSECURITY IN AFRICA
We urge national governments, including the Australian Government, to contribute a further amount to the World Food Programme to avert the severe food shortages that lead to severe malnutrition and illness amongst children. In the Central African Republic, for example, civil unrest has been a major contributer to the many social, economic and political problems affecting the country. As well as food aid and long term food security, the country needs to ensure democratic processes are put into place and that basic human rights are upheld.
Send a letter to the Australian Government urging them to help the World Food Programme provide immediate food relief to regions affected by severe food shortages. You can download our Sample Letter and send to the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
